The best time visit Bac Son Valley ?

What special cuisine in Bac Son?

Khau nhuc

This pork & taro dish is commonly served during the celebrations of the local ethnic minority tribes, which is a time consuming, meticulously prepared dish, with every ingredient needing to be present to truly be called “khau nhuc”.

A combination of roasted pork loin marinated with spices and honey, the flavor, aroma and the texture are what sets the dish apart. Tau soi leaves, a pickled herb used by the Tay ethnic minority, is finely chopped and mixed with soy sauce and a special mix of dried spices, and applied to the meat to marinade for 15 minutes.

“Khaunhuc” is served on the plate looking something like an up-ended basket.  All the strips of pork loin are woven together and cover a core of steamed taro.

Roast duck (with ‘moc mat’ leaves)

It begins with a perfect stuffing mixture made of finely chopped onion, garlic, chili, pepper, cardamom, anise and a local herd called ‘moc mat’.

The mouth-watering, glossy skin is produced by dipping the duck in boiling water laced with honey, roasting it over coals for 15 minutes and then deep-frying for another 15 minutes. Cooked whole and served carved into pieces, the meat it juicy and tender and has a spicy kick to it. The thin, crispy skin does not have a fatty feel to it because of the unique three-stage cooking process.

Na Lay Mount

Mount Na Lay at an altitude of about 600m above the sea level. It is the place where most of Bac Son tourists come to, because of the view angle spread out in the direction. It’s a great point to view the Bac Son valley from above.

The way to the top of Mount Na Lay with about 1,200 steps climbing up. It’s will take around 45 minutes to 1 hour to reach on top. Then the scene from the top of Na Lay will be a gift to remove all the hard, tired before. Officially called as Quynh Son Community-based tourism village, it’s close to the center of Bac Son district, Lang Son province. This is home of Tay Ethnic Minority living with long history traditional.

In particular, the entire Quynh Son village has a unique homogeneous architecture, with hundreds of stilt roofs in the same south, at first look very similar but when looking closely you will notice the difference on the limbs. Detail of each house, spacious space airy, in harmony with nature.

Tam Canh (Three hours – translated) Pass, located in Lan Luong Village, is part of Bac Son revolution relic area. In 1945, Bac Son army set up an ambush to destroy many Japanese soldiers as they lost their grounds. People say that it took 3 hours for the guerrilla troops to go through this pass, hence the name. Dang Mo Waterfall

Dang Mo waterfall is poetic beauty, all year round poured over the slopes of the mountains in the wild forest. Situated in Binh Gia district, this cool waterfall is a combination of underground water from the mountains of the same mountain range.

Dang Mo waterfall is still quite primitive. If not at heavy rains or floods, Dang Mo waterfall is so gentle, with sloping, moderate depth and “natural bath” in green. Nong Luc Temple

Not only the cultural destination but also the historical place is the Nong Luc Temple. Since 1940, this temple was used as a meeting place for the Bac Son Revolutionary Campaign. Nong Luc is a harmonious combination of traditional ancient architecture of the Northern Delta with the traditional stilt house architecture of the Tay people in Lang Son, built during the Nguyen Dynasty (1927), later renovated based on retaining the traditional art architecture.

It was classified as a national historical relic in 1962. Still, now, a historical tourist attraction that worth your visit.
